Today, I was back out on the hunt for some buried treasure. While I was not fortunate to uncover a pirates chest full of gold and jewels, I was fortunate enough to uncover this elegant vintage enamel brooch..
This beauty really caught my eye with its rich, rose colored tulip flowers sitting delicately on top of emerald green stems wrapped in an ivory bow with delicate gold tone accents. I wondered about its original owner. Perhaps it was originally given as a birthday gift or as a token of love. I guess we'll never really know.

Cozy Cottage Finds - Italian Florentine Gold Gilt Box with Old World Charm
The other day while I was out on one of my treasure-seeking excursions I discovered GOLD!! Okay.. So it wasn't exactly solid gold, instead, I found this charming old world style Italian Gold Gilt box...
Isn't it just gorgeous?? What I liked most about this charming little box was the warm feeling of the gold gilt and the added charm of the old world map. In my mind, I can just picture the Italian artist sitting there in Florence on a sun drenched day, lovingly creating this little box and carefully adding each detail. Then once the piece was complete...he would stamp on the back "Made in Italy" for all the world to see.

Cozy cottage finds - A Federal Style Convex Mirror
I set out on a treasure hunt the other day and didn't know exactly what I might find. I wasn't looking for anything specific when I started out on my journey, but I knew I would find something. I decided to stop at a few estate sales, a couple of thrift stores and perhaps a garage sale or two. In my travels I was fortunate enough to find couple of interesting items like these French country style etched wine glasses.
These gorgeous glasses were a particularly fabulous find because I had just acquired a new set of dishes by Mikasa called French Countryside and these glasses look very similar to the set that Mikasa sells at a fraction of the price! The other item that caught my eye was this federal style convex mirror.
I hadn't seen one of these mirrors in a long time. The last one I saw was back in the 1980s and it belonged to a relative. That one ,however, was a Syroco and this one has a frame that is made from wood with some type of plaster (gesso?) overlay. I think these mirrors look just wonderful in just about any room in the house and I find this one to be especially charming. However, since I don't have the wall space for this lovely mirror, I am going to offer it for sale in one of my eBay auctions. I will be sad to see it go but I'm sure it will be a stunning addition to someones decor.
